Wonsuk Kim, Ph.D.

Psychometrician

A Measured Progress psychometrician since 2003, Dr. Kim has been involved in various operational tasks for statewide assessment programs, including Maine, Massachusetts, Montana, Nevada, and Utah. His psychometric work for the programs included item parameter estimation, test form equation, test score scaling, and standard setting activities. He has developed numerous computer applications to perform a wide variety of operational psychometric services, including programs that examine classification accuracy and consistency, perform test score validation and test form equating, and evaluate equating items.

Prior to his tenure at Measured Progress, Dr. Kim worked as a research assistant at Seoul National University, Pennsylvania State University, and as an intern at Educational Testing Services.

Dr. Kim's research interests include reliability (generalizability) and validity, differential item functioning (DIF) analysis, and optimization procedures for the purposes of equating and scaling. Additionally, he has been involved in research projects related to vertical scaling for diagnostic assessment systems, test assembly research, and evidence-centered test design. He has published several research papers.

Dr. Kim is a member of the American Educational Research Association and the National Council of Measurement and Evaluation.

Dr. Kim holds a Ph.D. in educational psychology and measurement from Pennsylvania State University, as well as a Master's degree in learning and instruction and educational research methodology and a Bachelor's degree in education and social science education from Seoul National University, Seoul, South Korea.
