Jennifer Dunn, Ph.D.Psychometrician As one of two psychometricans involved in standard setting activities, Dr. Dunn’s responsibilities include planning and materials preparation, supervising data analysis activities, training facilitators and panelists, and on-site coordination. For standard setting activities in Florida, Montana, Missouri, and New Hampshire, Jennifer developed programs that automate graphical and tabular summaries of standard setting results. Prior to joining Measured progress in 2008, Dr. Dunn was an associate at the National Center for the Improvement of Educational Assessment where her responsibilities included advising state department officials on assessment and accountability designs that meet federal guidelines, conducting validity and reliability studies to support sound assessment and accountability systems, and maintaining a practical research agenda designed to inform issues commonly encountered by state departments of education. Dr. Dunn has also been involved in advising states on the use of growth models for accountability. Her specific tasks included summarizing the existing growth models for district and school representatives, guiding and facilitating educational policy makers through the development of a state-specific growth model, contributing to the proposal that articulates the growth model designed by the policy makers, and working with state officials and testing practitioners to ensure the correct implementation of the final growth model. Dr. Dunn completed her Ph.D. at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. Since pursuing doctoral studies, Jennifer has been active in the American Educational Research Association, National Council on Measurement in Education, and the Psychometric Society. Her teaching experience includes Master’s- and doctoral-level courses in measurement, statistics, and research methods at the University of Toronto and Boston College. |
