Successful Pilot of iBINDER

More than forty teachers from ten districts across New England recently participated in the successful pilot implementation of iBINDER, the Web-based, unit- and lesson-planning software available from Measured Progress. The pilot provided Measured Progress and developers of iBINDER, the Educator Performance Institute of the University of West Florida, with valuable insights into how teachers use the software, as well as ideas for how to improve it.

On their feedback forms, more than 70 % of the participants stated that iBINDER was a helpful tool in the unit- and lesson-planning process, and a majority of users said it was easy to use. More than three-quarters of the participants felt that the ability to reflect on their lessons was a useful feature of the software because it definitely helped them improve their units. Overall, 73% of the respondents said that iBINDER is a good professional development tool. Many of the participants stated that they look forward to being able to access a variety of units and lessons through the software.

iBINDER is a Web-based professional development tool designed to provide ongoing training in the development of standards-based units and lessons. iBINDER also provides teachers with the opportunity to collaborate with their colleagues as they develop units and to share those units through an online Bulletin Board.
