Measured Progress researchers will conduct a nationwide pilot test* from February 7 through March 3, 2006, to help ensure the validity of items chosen for a new generation of Progress Toward Standards tests. We are currently recruiting public and private schools and districts to participate in the pilot test. The participating schools and districts will administer a reading or mathematics pilot test form in three 30- to 35-minute sessions to each participating student. Any number of students, classes, and schools, at any (or all) grade levels, are eligible to participate.
The new tests are standards-based assessments in reading and mathematics, designed to be administered in the fall and midyear in grades three through eight and ten to help identify students “at risk” and pinpoint the need for additional help. The tests will also be scaled so that results can be used as valid indicators of individual student achievement growth over time.
Registering to participate in the pilot test is easy. If you are interested or have general questions, please call 1-877-678-3787 from 8:30 A.M.4:30 P.M. (EST).
For every student tested, districts will receive either $6.00 cash or $12.00 in credit toward future Progress Toward Standards scoring and reporting services. For example, if 1,000 students take the test, their district will earn either $6,000 cash or $12,000 in credit toward scoring and reporting services.
Participation in the pilot test is determined on a first-come, first-served basis, as long as the district or school meets the research requirements for the study. Measured Progress will notify selected participants before the end of the year.
