Examining Student Work to Improve Achievement
Measured Progress and the National Middle School Association will present the interactive workshop, “Examining Student Work to Improve Achievement, ” on January 1113, 2004 at the Embassy Suites in Lexington, Kentucky.
The two-day workshop will introduce participants to protocols for examining and methods for evaluating student work. The presenters will guide participants in understanding the relationships among content standards, performance standards, assessment, and classroom evaluation of student work.
Participants will work through a series of activities that introduce processes for examining student work. Small- and large-group discussions will help teams translate the techniques into practical classroom usage.
Providing Professional Development in Classroom Assessment for Learning
A training-of-trainers seminar, “Providing Professional Development in Classroom Assessment for Learning,” will be held at the Omni Parker House Hotel in Boston on April 2729, 2004. The seminar is designed to provide an advanced experience for those already somewhat knowledgeable about assessment and who have ongoing responsibilities for professional development in classroom assessment. A specific focus will be organizing and facilitating learning teams to enhance assessment literacy.
During these three intense, practical, and energizing days, Measured Progress and the Assessment Training Institute (ATI) will present the guidelines, strategies, and techniques needed to provide effective professional development on classroom assessment. ATI President Rick Stiggins will kick off the seminar via video conferencing.
