Colorado Enhanced Assessment Grant (2003-2005)The Alternate Assessment Collaborative (AAC), led by Colorado, recently concluded its work with two types of alternate assessments. Measured Progress assisted with assessment development, production, implementation, and research efforts. The AAC comprised states and not-for-profit organizations who desired to improve how students with complex disabilities were alternately assessed in the content areas of English language arts, mathematics, and science. The collaborative sought to improve a variety of alternate assessment strategies by increasing their technical soundness, accessibility, efficiency, and feasibility for measuring adequate yearly progress. The collaborative also examined the nature of the information derived from the multiple measures. The assessments were developed, pilot tested, and analyzed during the course of the project. States and organizations in the collaborative included: Colorado, Iowa, New Hampshire, Missouri, South Carolina, West Virginia, Wyoming, the Center for Applied Special Technologies, Inclusive Large Scale Standards and Assessment, and the Research and Development Center for the Advancement of Student Learning at Colorado State University. Illinois and Oregon were involved as members of the Collaborative during various phases of the project.
