Pennsylvania Enhanced Assessment Grant · SALLSA (2007-2009)
Measured Progress works with the Pennsylvania Department of Education and the states of Georgia, Washington, and Wyoming to improve linkages between state academic standards and their alternate assessments.
The grant project aimed to provide solid validity evidence to help states, districts, and schools use alternate assessment scores to adjust educational programs that address the needs of students with significant disabilities.
Awarded under a federal Enhanced Assessment Instruments grant, this project, State Academic Learning Links with Self-Evaluation for Alternate Assessment (SALLSA), had the following goals:
- Replicate and extend research on Links to Academic Learning (Flowers, Wakeman, Browder, & Karvonen, 2007)
- Develop and implement a process for helping states use alignment study results for planning improvements in their alternate assessment systems
- Conduct multiple case studies to look at implementation processes and the impacts of the first two goals
- Disseminate project activities and findings to help states interpret alignment findings and plan for improvement
