Everyday Data: Using Multiple Data Sources To Plan for Improvement

Scheduled Workshops

Fall 2007 Marlborough, MA

Why should you attend?

As an educator, you are constantly bombarded with data that’s supposed to help you decide how to adjust programs and instruction. Everyday Data helps administrators and teachers use data to make truly informed decisions to improve student learning and achievement.

What you’ll do during this workshop?

  • Explore how data from indicators of student learning, demographics, programs and policies, and perception become knowledge
  • Investigate data-based decision making
  • Learn about a school improvement process that involves mining, analyzing, communicating, and using data
  • Recognize and identify multiple data sources
  • Recognize trends and patterns from multiple data sources
  • Investigate the root causes of data trends and translate those causes into improved instruction
  • Develop tools for problem solving

What you’ll take with you?

  • The ability to use data to determine what is working—and what is not
  • Informed questions to use to investigate the root causes of gaps in student achievement
  • Confidence that your data analysis is leading to informed decisions concerning programs and instruction

You will also receive a copy of Victoria Bernhardt’s book Using Data to Improve Student Learning in School Districts.

To get the most out of this workshop, we suggest you bring a team of teachers and administrators. Recertification points/credits are available.
