Using Multiple Data Sources

Educators are flooded with data. Looking at data sources—including indicators of student learning, demographics, stake holders’ perceptions, and programs and processes—can be a daunting task. Our goal is to introduce you to effective strategies for mining data and using what you find to transform instruction and improve student learning.

Teams learn to
  • explore how data becomes knowledge,
  • investigate data-based decision making,
  • consider the school improvement process; mining, analyzing, communicating, and using data,
  • locate all possible data sources,
  • recognize trends and patterns revealed through multiple variables, and
  • identify needs based on root-cause analysis.
