Nambury Raju Psychometric Internship Program

Measured Progress grants several internships annually for students interested in psychometrics or educational testing studies. The program is designed to assist students in gaining better knowledge and understanding of daily psychometric activities at Measured Progress. During the intensive eight-week program, the intern works closely with our team of psychometricians.

About Nambury Raju

The Measured Progress Summer Internship program is named after Dr. Nambury Raju (1937—2005), an internationally recognized scholar and consultant in the field of educational and psychological measurement. Dr. Raju, affectionately referred to as "Nam," served as Distinguished Professor of Psychology and Senior Scientific Advisor of the Center for Research and Service at the Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago. Nam was a long-time friend of Measured Progress and served as a member of our Technical Advisory Committee. Naming the program after Nam is a fitting way to remember his commitment to teaching and his numerous contributions to the field.

If you would like to know more Dr. Raju and his work at IIT, watch a video produced in 2004 in which he is prominently featured.

Our internship program at a glance:

  • A program designed around accomplishing a research project within our Framework
  • Specific meetings around goal setting, monitoring progress, and ensuring project completion
  • An environment where interns can work independently or together on projects
  • A chance to meet with senior staff members to learn about the testing industry

Interns are assigned a mentor (one of our psychometricians) for assistance and guidance through activities associated with the chosen research project. At the end of the program, findings are presented to Measured Progress research staff.

Eligibility

Eligible candidates are graduate students enrolled in a doctoral program in a fully accredited university/college. Qualified candidates must have completed at least two years of full-time graduate study in measurement, psychometrics, educational, and/or quantitative psychology.
