With an online assessment program powered by Firefly, you can assess students with greater accuracy, review results faster, and enjoy substantial savings compared with paper-and-pencil testing. Flexible server architecture and solid security features make the system equally suited for statewide, high-stakes, summative testing and interim, smaller-scale, formative assessment.
Our proprietary Smart Testing System (patent pending) comprises four cooperative parts.
- The Data Administration System enables staff members to set permissions, manage user and school system information, organize test sessions, administer assessments, and review results in a clear, intuitive, browser-based interface.
- The Test Delivery System securely stores test content, delivers tests to students on a scheduled or on-demand basis, and uploads student answers to the Data Administration System.
- The Student Test Workstation software offers a clean, secure, responsive environment that is linked to an active proctoring system. Students who need assistive technology such as text and screen readers can use the software already installed on their computers.
- The Proctor Test Workstation allows teachers to monitor student progress and control access to each assessment. Proctors assign students to computers and can begin, pause, or stop test administration for a group or an individual student. Proctors can also open and close test sections and respond within the system to students’ requests for help.
A typical system implementation would involve the following steps:
- Item Import and Assessment Creation:
Test content, provided by the client or by Measured Progress, is imported, aligned to client state standards, and used to assemble tests.
- System Security Setup:
Permission and rules controlling user access to system features and data are established and incorporated.
- Organization Setup:
Student, staff, and organization data are imported or entered manually.
- Assessment Administration:
Staff, students, and assessments are organized into scheduled test sessions. Teachers administer the test using the proctoring features.
- Scoring and Reporting:
Reports are produced using only the assessment data in the system or merging the data with paper-based results to create more comprehensive reports. Open-response items can be scored within the system, producing raw, disaggregated data. Measured Progress provides further data analysis and detailed reports.
Well-executed computer-based assessment systems offer many advantages in test design, administration, scoring, and reporting over the traditional use of paper-and-pencil tests. We can tailor our highly flexible, proprietary system to produce the optimum mix of performance, security, functionality, and cost. Put Firefly to the test!
