Measured Progress has been the contractor for Maine's state-wide assessment programs since 1985. In 200809, the Maine Educational Assessment (MEA) will test approximately 90,000 students in grades 3 through 8. Students will be assessed in reading and mathematics in all six grades and in science and writing at grades 5 and 8.
A separate Maine High School Assessment (MHSA) for all third-year high school students combines the SAT with augmented mathematics and science sections. The College Board provides the SAT to Maine students, and Measured Progress is the contractor for the augmented sections and MHSA reporting. Additionally, Measured Progress develops and scores the Personalized Alternate Assessment Portfolio (PAAP). Based on the results of the MEA, MHSA, and PAAP assessments, Measured Progress also produces No Child Left Behind Adequate Yearly Progress (NCLB AYP) results for the state.
