Measured Progress Continues Work on MCASThe Massachusetts Department of Education has again awarded the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) contract to Measured Progress. "We have been very pleased with the work of Measured Progress to date, and I am glad that we will be able to continue our relationship," said Massachusetts Education Commissioner Mitchell Chester. "They are going to play an important role as we move forward in our development of the next phase of MCAS." Starting on January 1, 2010, and running through December 31, 2014, the five-year, $146 million contract requires Measured Progress to develop, administer, score, and report results of both the MCAS and the MCAS-Alternative Assessment. Under the new contract, Measured Progress will make various improvements to the program, including the reduction of classroom testing time and a faster return of test results. Measured Progress has been working with the Massachusetts Department of Education since 1986. We initially developed the MCAS and administered the tests from 1997 until 2000. In 2004, the company signed a five-year contract to resume work on the program. Measured Progress has held the MCAS Alternate Assessment contract since 1998 and also manages the Massachusetts English Proficiency Assessment for English language learners. “We are very pleased to continue our longstanding relationship with Massachusetts,” said Measured Progress CEO Stuart Kahl. “We are proud of the work we have done in the last five years and look forward to improving the MCAS further for the benefit of all students in Massachusetts.” Elke Oberg |
