Measured Progress is an industry leader in the development of customized, K-12 student assessments. Founded in 1983 (as Advanced Systems in Measurement and Evaluation) with initial contracts in Maine and Massachusetts, the company was a pioneer in authentic, standards-based assessments that contributed to teaching and learning. Our current and recent projects have provided assessment solutions for upwards of 2.5 million students. We’ve worked with state departments of education on summative assessments in more than 20 states, and we provide formative assessment solutions for teachers in hundreds of districts nationwide.
Our recent history includes our work with the first multi-state summative assessment consortium, the New England Common Assessment Program, to create and administer statewide tests in English language arts, mathematics, and science. We completed multiple contracts in the planning, architecture, and development of the Smarter Balanced and PARCC programs for Common Core State Standards assessments, and serve as contractor for multiple states’ Smarter Balanced implementation.
Whether serving as a contractor for a customized statewide assessment, providing implementation and administration for national Common Core assessments, or creating solutions that provide teachers with dynamic assessment materials in the classroom, we maintain our focus on the quality of our content. For today’s and tomorrow’s assessment challenges, our content doesn’t pass muster unless it meets three criteria: It must be configurable, interoperable, and actionable.
With more than 400 employees and offices in four states, our not-for-profit company remains true to its founding philosophy: Assessment is a means, not an end. It’s all about student learning. Period.
